Oh Christmas Tree

I spent this Sunday with the family at Grandma's house (definitely one of my
top 10 places to be at any given time). It was the cookie exchange and tree decorating day : ) As always, we unloaded box after box of ornaments, and tried basically every kind of cookie...* YUMMY! So many different kinds!!

My family, and Laura is home!!

Girls Dinner 2008

Keeping up with tradition Alyssa, Marianne, Rachel, and I went out for our Winter Girls Dinner this past Saturday... It was perfect. All 4 of us together, lots of wine, tons of gossip, and cute little Lewiston. This time we went to Apple Granny's and Brickyard. Definitely a good time.

Why order a glass of wine if you have the option to order a caraffe (thats not spelled right, but im too tired to fix it...)

Charles Dickens Christmas

Head to Skaneateles, NY anytime between Thanksgiving and Christmas to check out their Charles Dickens Christmas, complete with lots of actors walking around : ) Totally cute town, even though we were there when it was pouring sleet. GROSS!!

This was just a pretty Christmas tree out at the end of a fishing pier...

Notre Dame!

November 21-22 I went to Notre Dame with Mike, Davis, and Shannon, for the Notre Dame vs. Syracuse game. It was actually a pretty quick trip down, despite our tire with a hole in it... Needless to say, Mike was not very happy that every 1.5 hours we had to stop for air... Yikes. If I have to spend lots of hours in a car, those 3 are some of the best people I could think of to spend it with, plus I don't get to see them nearly enough, so it was great :) Too bad Notre Dame lost the game in the 4th quarter. Just being on campus was amazing!!
The campus is incredible, and the traditions give you goosebumps!! Totally worth the trip if you can ever go down!!

The Grotto* Absolutely beautiful, during the day and night.

The Stadium, and you can see touchdown Jesus in the distance!Stadium on the way out.The band getting ready for the team to come in. I have video of them playing a few songs, ask if you want to see!The Basilica.

Black Friday Madness

When I was younger, cousins Melissa, Steph, and I used to go out at 6 or 7am with Cathy for Black Friday shopping at the Galleria. We used to buy a few presents for ourselves or others and usually help her pick out a super cute outfit to wear on New Years Eve. Such good memories. Then I started working at Gap senior year. So Black Friday's during my college years were spent working at the Niagara Falls Outlet mall, and now that I'm done there, Black Friday means shopping with my girls :) This year Alyssa, Marianne and I headed out at 4am and shopped til noon at Galleria, and every store imaginable on Transit, and then the good ol' Lockport Mall : ) And finished the morning with a lunch with Mr. Brooks at the Fieldstone* Check out Marianne's car overflowing with our great deals!!
Totally worth it :) Less than 355 days til next time!! WOOHOO!

Thanksgiving Fun*

I'm always a fan of Thanksgiving, because it is the most low-key of the holidays... At least for me... I guess when I'm the one cooking everything, I'll probably retract that statement.. But really, in my world, you wake up, check out all the ads, watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, then go to Grandma Heim's, then to Grandma Wuff's super warm house, look at some more ads, eat the skin off the turkey, pig out on everything imaginable, then slip into a food induced coma :) All in all a great day! This year, went a little different... I went out in Fairport with Mike and his friends (who are awesome*) and was sleeping by 1... Too bad, the stomach flu I had been successfully been fighting off, finally got the best of me that night... Which is why I dont understand the phenomenon of getting wasted Thanksgiving Eve. Who really wants to be sick and hungover when there is so much food? Anyways, missed watching the parade, since I was driving home at that time. Went to Grandma Heim's, then Grandma Wuffs, where for the first time ever we ate super early because our 29 lb. Tom the Turkey decided to cook way too fast. Too bad for him, that he was the most beautiful looking turkey ever, because he lost his skin in about 5 minutes flat... If that. And the skin is GONE!

It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas!

Wow. Almost a month between blogs. I am NOT good at this. But I've been busy! Very, very busy!! Between traveling to Notre Dame, home for Thanksgiving, trips to Brockport, a Baptism in Syracuse, parent teacher conferences, and craziness at school, and then on top of it, my computer battery and adapter going, I haven't had much time or have been able to post. But I'm borrowing an adapter so here come the pictures! I've been busy this week/weekend decorating for CHRISTMAS. My absolute favorite time of the year. Not because of the presents. But for the whole season, the traditions, and the feeling you get : ) I LOVE IT!

Now that I live in a nice big apartment.. I have 2 Christmas trees... (well actually 4 if you count my mini tree, and our silver WhoVille Ikea Trees...) Here are some pictures of my living room :)

Celtic Festival & Big Swords

My friend Nick and I with our BIG swords after winning Male and Female Athlete of the Day at the Niagara Celtic Festival in September : ) Long day, good times! My dad and Mr. & Mrs. Meehan came out to watch the festivities! The sword is on one of my windows in my apartment... I can only imagine what my landlord thinks ; ) What's not to love about a man in a kilt? The manly men throwing VERRRY high. Its a cool festival because we are part of the entertainment, and they treat us good!!

H-A-LL-O-W-EE-N!

My most vivid memory of primary school is Halloween time with Mrs. Few in music class. (a close 2nd is the huge paper mache dinosaur...) Singing halloween songs and making shadows behind the curtain. The famous Halloween song (and what I sing to myself every time I write the word...) "H, A, double L, O, W, double E, N, spells Halloween!" Yes I'm a loser.

Anyways, now that I have the day off I can finally upload pictures to my computer, while Norman sits above me on the couch and takes a nap : )

We were supposed to be from the 1920's and they were Vikings. Mike and I before we left my apt and Katy and Laslo at our first stop- Wally's; on the bar tour my landlord took us on :)And the journey back to my apartment at the end of the night... With my landlord leading the way back with his light... ; )

My New Man

Meet Norman. I adopted him today at Lollypop Farm (http://www.lollypop.org/) in Fairport. : ) He is about 6 and 1/2 months old, and was just brought to the shelter yesterday. Apparently his mommy and daddy got a divorce, and he was sent packing as a result. He was a little scared when we met him this morning, but it had to do with the fact that his mom abandoned him and then one of the cats he was sharing a cage with decided to pick on him and beat him up a little this morning. He looked like he had potential to be a sweetheart, and he proved it. He slept on my lap the whole ride home : ) He's a cutie. And he came from a home where he lived and got along well with other cats, a dog, and kids! More pictures to come*
(His name when he came to the shelter was Norman. I think I like it though, and it fits him... There is a possibility it will still change though...)

Summer Memories

Since I've been incredibly motivated to clean, organize, and do laundry since I got home from work, I still have yet to load all of my new pictures onto my computer... So I'm posting a few nice ones from the summer : ) I could say, "man, I wish it was still summer," but lets be honest, with days like we're having this week (70 degrees in November), we CANNOT complain. I also can't complain too much because November is an awesome month for teachers... Awesome because it is so broken up, but in my life that might make the kids act out, so we'll see how I feel when the month is over ; )
Picture 1... A random Sunday at the Meehan's... Lol. Shannon, Davis, and I passed out in the middle of the day... I think it might have been the day after Nick & JoAnna's wedding... But still, it makes me happy that I can just fall asleep there like I would if I was at Grandma's on a Sunday... : )
Throwing the flaming hammer at Brockport... Best tradition ever : )
After a walk around Durand Eastman, we went for a drive... cant remember why, and we ended up driving into a horrible thunderstorm, but when the rain stopped the lightning was awesome!

Finally Pictures!!

Last weekend, Melissa and her friend Wheeler came to stay with me because they had a wedding in Canandaigua. Their reception was down in Bristol, so Mike and I took them down and on the way back there was a huge double rainbow! (Mind you it was a miserable morning and afternoon, so I guess the bride and groom really deserved some rainbows for their pictures.

Next picture... Just a funny one when Mike caught me off guard on a picture pitstop. And then one of my favorite buildings in Canandaigua. 2 blocks from my apartment, the Ontario County Courthouse.

Thats all for now, then lots to come!

No wonder why I never "blogged" before...

Since it's been more than 10 days since my last blog, I guess it explains why I've never done this before, and why I haven't consistently written in a journal since I was in middle school. Anyways, lots has been going on since I last posted... Right now, I'm riding in the car from Slippery Rock, PA back to Canandaigua. Mike and I went down for the weekend to watch Laura's last band/dance performance of the year, and lucky for me he has a wireless card thing so I can do school work, grades, and email stuff the whole ride home : ) Right now we're about to drive past the Galleria mall... Having to drive past all of my "home" exits, makes me homesick. Really homesick. So close, but so far from home. Anyways, lots of pictures from all sorts of things will be coming: Pumpkin carving, Mike's cousin's wedding, Bristol when Melissa and sweaty friend Wheeler visited, Halloween, Slippery rock (Laura dancing & our road trip to Pittsburgh today!)

For now, some pictures from Bristol... Ok nevermind.. it takes too long to upload pictures from the Airport thing.. I'll do it later : )

Brockport Distance Project '08

No new pictures from recent now, so I'm resorting back to summer since I haven't posted any pictures online in FOREVER. Today's are from USA Track & Field Club Nationals in Olathe, Kansas this past July. Brockport Distance Project is the Club Team I compete with. We were one of, if not, the smallest club there (5 people) and we took 4th place! Not too shabby. Hopefully we'll be top 3 next year so we make a little money!! First picture: Sunset over the stadium on Day 1 of competition : )

Number 2: Track shot at the beginning of the 10K, aka 25 laps of the track. go BDP!

The team Tara, Terri, Vanessa, and I in our 2nd state of the road trip... This is the only state we stopped in and took a picture... Mostly because we got stuck in traffic and construction in Ohio, and wanted to get out of there ASAP. And it was the middle of the night for the rest of them... Yeah, it was a 17+ hour trip. Good thing I got to fly home!!

The team at the end of Day 1!!

Is it November yet?

I've had a crazy and hectic weekend, so this will be a long post with lots of pictures to make up for it.... It was a great weekend but my loneliness is kicking in... It hasn't even been a month in Canandaigua or 2 months since school started, and I'm already homesick and need a break. November will be wonderful, and I want it to hurry up and get here! The first weekend I'm going to go visit the little one (aka, sister Laura : ) ) at Slippery Rock in PA, where I'll get to watch her marching band performance for this year, then we'll take our 2nd annual trip to Cheeseman Farm for their haunted hayride. The second weekend in November, Mima and hopefully her sisters etc are coming for the night. The 15-16 weekend will hopefully involve lots of time in Brockport. The 21-22 weekend will be very special for my second family... And then... it's THANKSGIVING! Which means finally getting to see the whole family together, and my girls!! ahhh. I can't wait. We already have Black Friday shopping all planned.

This weekend was jam packed, with a Mansion Mystery night (below) at Sonnenberg Gardens on Friday, some errands, furniture building, my first mass at my new church, dinner with the Meehans, and an attempt at the Haunted Hayride in Williamson. Note: Do not go. If you really want to go, even though it starts at dusk, arrive by 5pm, or you will neeeeeeeeeeever get on the ride. Halloween time is going on the list of why the Buffalo area is so much better than the Rochester area. No where near as many haunted attractions. Even though we didnt get on the hayride, it was great to see Davis and Shannon : ) This morning we had a softball game at 9am. Oh joy. That meant leaving at 8am. Then I shopped : ) and then came back to Canandaigua so Mima and Pops could stop and visit me on their way back home from Corning. They are awesome. And bought a "world famous grape pie" on their way through Naples, and to be honest, grape pie is officially the first kind of fruit pie I like. Delicious!! Finished the day with a nice walk in Victor down the Auburn trail with Mike and Lily. (-->) Beautiful.

And now its back to the grind. I hate 5 day weeks. Just another reason why I can't wait for November. Veterans Day, Conference Days, and Thanksgiving Break. Then comes December which is my favorite time of the whoooole year. And in addition to the typical holiday festivities this year, I get to go to NYC from the 27th-31st... Ice skating in Rockefeller Center and a carriage ride in Central Park here I come!!

Now for today's pictures:

Wind Turbine wings (I guess that's what you would call them...) sitting at the factory in Dansville. I wish there was a truck or something sitting next to them so you could see just how big they really are. And then the next picture is of a whole bunch of them on top of the hills east of Dansville.

Another picture from the Fall Festival at Bristol Mountain. Sitting in the grass at the top of the mountain, watching people come up the lift and listening to the band that was playing down in the lodge. And below: Cooking in a pie plate... If you do not own one you should buy one. Pizzas and apple pies on the fire= DELICIOUS.
And the picture of the water way at the top is in Naples, at the most southern tip of Canandaigua Lake.
