Brockport Distance Project '08

No new pictures from recent now, so I'm resorting back to summer since I haven't posted any pictures online in FOREVER. Today's are from USA Track & Field Club Nationals in Olathe, Kansas this past July. Brockport Distance Project is the Club Team I compete with. We were one of, if not, the smallest club there (5 people) and we took 4th place! Not too shabby. Hopefully we'll be top 3 next year so we make a little money!! First picture: Sunset over the stadium on Day 1 of competition : )

Number 2: Track shot at the beginning of the 10K, aka 25 laps of the track. go BDP!

The team Tara, Terri, Vanessa, and I in our 2nd state of the road trip... This is the only state we stopped in and took a picture... Mostly because we got stuck in traffic and construction in Ohio, and wanted to get out of there ASAP. And it was the middle of the night for the rest of them... Yeah, it was a 17+ hour trip. Good thing I got to fly home!!

The team at the end of Day 1!!

Is it November yet?

I've had a crazy and hectic weekend, so this will be a long post with lots of pictures to make up for it.... It was a great weekend but my loneliness is kicking in... It hasn't even been a month in Canandaigua or 2 months since school started, and I'm already homesick and need a break. November will be wonderful, and I want it to hurry up and get here! The first weekend I'm going to go visit the little one (aka, sister Laura : ) ) at Slippery Rock in PA, where I'll get to watch her marching band performance for this year, then we'll take our 2nd annual trip to Cheeseman Farm for their haunted hayride. The second weekend in November, Mima and hopefully her sisters etc are coming for the night. The 15-16 weekend will hopefully involve lots of time in Brockport. The 21-22 weekend will be very special for my second family... And then... it's THANKSGIVING! Which means finally getting to see the whole family together, and my girls!! ahhh. I can't wait. We already have Black Friday shopping all planned.

This weekend was jam packed, with a Mansion Mystery night (below) at Sonnenberg Gardens on Friday, some errands, furniture building, my first mass at my new church, dinner with the Meehans, and an attempt at the Haunted Hayride in Williamson. Note: Do not go. If you really want to go, even though it starts at dusk, arrive by 5pm, or you will neeeeeeeeeeever get on the ride. Halloween time is going on the list of why the Buffalo area is so much better than the Rochester area. No where near as many haunted attractions. Even though we didnt get on the hayride, it was great to see Davis and Shannon : ) This morning we had a softball game at 9am. Oh joy. That meant leaving at 8am. Then I shopped : ) and then came back to Canandaigua so Mima and Pops could stop and visit me on their way back home from Corning. They are awesome. And bought a "world famous grape pie" on their way through Naples, and to be honest, grape pie is officially the first kind of fruit pie I like. Delicious!! Finished the day with a nice walk in Victor down the Auburn trail with Mike and Lily. (-->) Beautiful.

And now its back to the grind. I hate 5 day weeks. Just another reason why I can't wait for November. Veterans Day, Conference Days, and Thanksgiving Break. Then comes December which is my favorite time of the whoooole year. And in addition to the typical holiday festivities this year, I get to go to NYC from the 27th-31st... Ice skating in Rockefeller Center and a carriage ride in Central Park here I come!!

Now for today's pictures:

Wind Turbine wings (I guess that's what you would call them...) sitting at the factory in Dansville. I wish there was a truck or something sitting next to them so you could see just how big they really are. And then the next picture is of a whole bunch of them on top of the hills east of Dansville.

Another picture from the Fall Festival at Bristol Mountain. Sitting in the grass at the top of the mountain, watching people come up the lift and listening to the band that was playing down in the lodge. And below: Cooking in a pie plate... If you do not own one you should buy one. Pizzas and apple pies on the fire= DELICIOUS.
And the picture of the water way at the top is in Naples, at the most southern tip of Canandaigua Lake.

Holler Back

That title means nothing, but thats the song on the radio now... Anyways, had a great day at work for once... ahh. My kiddies 1/2 way behaved today, which is much better than the typical chaos... But my partner at my 1st school wont be there tomorrow so it will be a very long day... oh well. So today's pictures: CAMPING!! from this past weekend at Stony Brook. This is the first installment : ) The first picture ----> is the camping gang. From left to right: Katy, Laslo (her boyfriend), me, Corey (Mike's friend from when he worked at Rock Ventures), and Mike. This was on our Saturday morning hike to the water falls.

Next: This picture is of Mike and I at Ontario County Park (its called something like that... not exactly sure of the name. Its near Bristol/Naples). VERY cool spot. Random look out spot at the end of a beautiful path, and all that you can see for miles are trees. beautiful. I should really go back down there this weekend of next when the trees have finally turned to my favorite red color*

#3: Doing what I love.. Camping & more importantly building a fire. I'm probably lucky Mike is still talking to me since all that I did all weekend was yell at him for building fires wrong! Picture this though... every time he went to build a fire (not counting when lighter fluid was involved), and struggled to get it going, a man from 2 sites down would walk over to our site and give him a fire starter... Haha. Sorry Mike. This picture also gives an ok view of our site... Notice the creek right behind me : ) Site 110 or 93 is the place to stay if you ever go there.

Last one for tonight... Mike and I sitting at the
top of one of the ski lifts at Bristol Mountain. We went for their fall festival, took the chairlift to the top, hung out for awhile to take pictures, then hiked down the mountain.

Back to work...

Back to work today, and it was a really weird day... We actually had FLCC students come observe us... Just seems weird to be being observed, rather than "the observer." Then school 2, was interesting, but tonight is a full-moon so almost everyone was a little off. and NO it is NOT a myth, once you work in a school you see how stuff like the moon really does affect everyone.

Since I still dont have the camping pictures, I thought some pictures from my NYC trip this past May would be nice. I went there to visit my girls from my Summer in the City NYC Internship in 2005. The first one is in Manhattan, somewhere between Southstreet Seaport and Wall Street... I tend to aimlessly wander when I'm exploring on my own : ) The second is my on the Staten Island Ferry- one of my favorite things in the city because it takes me close to the Statue of Liberty (which is my favorite**) and its Free! And the 3rd is a fun color picture at Yankees stadium, the last season.

Happy Columbus Day

Finally back to my apt after an amazing weekend camping at Stony Brook State Park in Dansville... (which is why there were no pictures posted this weekend...) Stayed there from Friday through this morning* I went with Mike, his friend Corey came for Friday night, and Katy and Laslo came down for Friday-Sunday. The weather in October could have gone either way, but we totally lucked out with temps in the 70's during the day...It was perfect... But a little cold at night* As much as I love camping, this is my first really cold trip, and I am definitely looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight! I dont really have any pictues on the computer yet, but there are lots to come.

This picture is from my cell phone. On Sunday, Mike and I went to Naples and Bristol Mountain. This is a picture of Canandaigua Lake (my lake, but the opposite end from where I live), at the far south end. Absolutely beautiful! After stopping for this picture, we rode the chairlift up Bristol Mountain and then hiked back down!

Since I don't have many camping pictures yet, I thought I'd post another of my cell phone ones from graduation... The infamous torture rack : ) And yes, I have heels on* Johnny and I right after Grad School graduation, May 2008. It's a Barber's thing... Not only is Johnny one of the greatest people I know- an all-around good person, the fact that he lets me do this to him, makes him that much better... Of course, this was one of my mom's proudest moments... ; )

Oh what a day...

After a verrrry interesting and tough day at work, I thought some pet pics would be nice... The cat of course is my little man, Yukon. Unfortunately, my parents kidnapped him for a week last summer, and he was never allowed to come back to live with me... They got rid of Laura and me, and now have the 2 cats. I was informed that he is now theirs, even if every time I'm home, my dad tells him to pack his bags. October is a crazy month, and I'll be gone every weekend, but come November, I'm going to start taking trips to Lollipop Farms and start looking for a new cat... More updates to come.

The next pictures are of Mike's dog Lily.. she is Mike's, but since I lived with her for a month, I like to think/pretend she is partially mine. This is a picture of her with her toy that I bought her that she treats like her child... She used to have a goose, but she tore it apart. I figured she would do the same to this, but instead she just carries it EVERYWHERE with her : ) I bought it to be nice, but more because she kept eyeing up my nurse bear...

I have such smart friends : )

I got an email today from my lover ( no, not Mike). My original lover & other half of Rothenheimer, Miss Jessica Roth. She always has the best ideas, and shares my love of pictures. Her sister had the great idea to blog and do her life in pictures. Soooo, Jess copied her, and now I'm copying Jess. Hey, why reinvent the wheel? I've never blogged before, but now that I'm living on the other side of the world from all of my friends and family, what better time to start. Ok, "other side of the world" is an exaggeration, but it feels like that sometimes. So here goes nothing... Blog away! My goal (like Jess) is to post 1 picture everyday! Sounds like a cool way to show what I'm up to out here in the Finger Lakes, and share my favorite things, places, people, experiences, trips, etc. with important people like you! Enjoy!
Today's picture: Me throwing the Caber, this past Sunday (10/5/08) at the Niagara County Applefest. The Highland Games (Highland Heavy Athletics) are my new love!! The events: stone toss (aka shot put with a stone), heavy & light weight for distance, heavy weight for height, sheaf (pitch fork throwing a burlap sack) for height, and caber (throwing a tree trunk, and making it flip). Mike took this picture on his cell phone, notice my awesome kilt!! And of course it's green & gold* If you want to know more about the games, check out www.niagarahac.com!
