Winter Special Olympics

What a great weekend : ) Friday was a quiet night in Canandaigua. Some good wings at my new favorite restaurant, J.J Wingers, and we watched "Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist." Typical chick flick, but really cute, except for the whole gum thing... If you watch it, you'll see what I mean.

Then Saturday Mike and I volunteered at the NYS Special Olympics Winter Games. We worked with Nordic (cross country skiers) and snowshoers at the top of Bristol Mountain. What better place to be than at the top of a beautiful mountain on a warm 45 degree day! It was amazing, and such a rewarding experience.
Saturday night we went out with a bunch of Mike's friends to "Good Luck" and "Colony" in Rochester... Apparently the food at Good Luck is pretty good, but I wouldn't know personally, we didnt eat but I did "enjoy" my first Genny Light. Probably the only person in the place drinking one of those... Soo classy. Colony is very cool too! Corner of South and.... ??
Sunday= catch up on sleep and prep for the week. And of course, I didn't get to catch up on sleep because we had our Barber's Christmas Party today. They shut down the bar for 6 hours, and we get to eat, drink, and be merry. It was fabulous.

Nightmares!

January 2, 2009 Laura, Mike and I went to "Nightmares" Haunted House on Clifton Hill (sort of.) in Niagara Falls, Canada. I've always wanted to go, but didn't have anyone who wanted to go, so after a huge game night and food fest, Laura and I dragged Mike there. We had decided earlier in the day that we wanted to go, so we forced him to go... It was definitely against his will.. He says I pulled my "girlfriend card" which is why he went. Either way, in the end he had fun, and we all survived the haunted house. It was my first time on Clifton Hill in awhile. Lots of fun memories up there. And we walked across the bridge which was nice, except for that fact that it was 15 degrees. Not fun.

Here is the picture that they "secretly" take of you, when out of no where a car comes flying at you : ) I personallly love how Laura's face is smushed against me, it looks for weird : )

I'm so bad at this...

I really enjoy writing this blog and posting pictures, but unfortunately my computer fried. and I cant access this site at work... good old firewalls : ) So now I'm borrowing a computer from Mike's work, but I cant really upload my pictures on it. Because I keep hearing whining about how I havent updated, I'll steal a few pictures from Mike from our trip to NYC after Christmas.

The first 2 pictures are from the "Top of the Roc" aka, Top of Rockefeller Center. It was about 10/11pm when we were up there. If you travel to the city and want to see the skyline from way up high, day or night, I recommend Top of the Rock. The Empire State Building had at least a 2.5-3 hour wait every day we were there to just buy tickets... not including wait time to actually get up top. Rockefeller center is only maybe 10-15 stories less (dont quote me on that... its possible that I'm totally making up numbers. Actually... I KNOW I am making up the numbers. I dont have a clue. But when youre that high up whats the difference?) The thing I like about Top of the Rock too, is that youre only a few blocks from Central Park, so you can see the whole park from a birds eye view. I cant wait to go back and go during the day! Hopefully maybe the fall? Can you imagine the colors!!??
The last picture is of Mike and I on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, with the lower Manhattan East Side behind us. This is my favorite place in the city. When I lived in New York for my internship, we would go "promenading" quite regularly, and at all times of the day and night. I drank beer and ate deli sandwiches there, went there at 5:30am on july 29, 2005, in other words I was up VERY late on my 21st birthday, and I waatched NYC fireworks there. It is beautiful. Brooklyn Heights in General is B-E-A-UTIFUL!
Thats all for now, I'm taking a free community education class at one of the schools I teach at about Money management. WOOHOO!
